Barningham Village Hall

The village hall – once the village school – is sited on the south side of the village green and is the base for many village activities, ranging from pilates sessions to the annual village show. It is available for hire and offers excellent catering facilities.

It is run by the Village Hall Committee and relies on volunteers, parish council donations and fund-raising activities to survive. Durham County Council has ceased giving grants to village halls.

About thirty people attended an open committee meeting on Tuesday September 11th 2018 to discuss of the future of the hall following suggestions that it might be sold if its use continues to decline. It was unanimously agreed that every effort should be made to keep the hall going and improve its facilities, events and fundraising activities. Several of those present volunteered to join the committee, and it has since met to elect a new chairman and other officers, and discuss future activities.

The 2019 AGM was held 0n April 25th 2019, 7.30pm in the village hall. The next committee meeting is on Monday January 20th 2019, 7.30pm in the village hall.
